Happy Friday!

I can't believe how fast this week's flown by. All in all I'd have to say it was a productive and happy week around here.

I finally put the new duvet cover on our bed and am happy to report that our cats approve. The only drawback is Alice's white fur on the brown fabric, oh well, such as life. I still like the brown and am keeping it ;)

Sarah recieved the P.E. achiever shirt at school, she gets extra credit for helping others and for exercising at home. Way to go Sarah!

Ryan got his braces off today ...

WOOHOO! Doesn't he look great! He got his braces off this morning and then we headed over to see the dentist. Now his teeth are straight and clean! ;)

I've been keeping busy this week cleaning the house on Monday, Tuesday I helped my friend work on her quilt.
Over the weekend I took Sarah to the mall for some girl time & new jeans. She and I helpped decorate the Sukkah at the Synagauge for Sukkot Sunday morning. We had a great spaghetti dinner with our friends on Saturday night too!
Tomorrow I'm going on a "field trip" with my friend. We go to our favorite shop for holiday treats & then for lunch at our favorite Jewish deli.

I know .... it's been a few weeks..... ;)

It's been a busy few weeks around here.....
Grandpa and Aunt Ronnie came to visit. It was lots of fun as always. One of the pictures above is of Grandpa driving one of Steve's spitfires. (yes...he has 3 of them) The red one is the favorite.
The other picture is of Ryan (on left) receiving 5 merrit badges at his Scout meetings "court of honor" Monday night. "Way to go Ryan!"
I had a crummy cold for almost 2 weeks.
We had our first rain last Saturday, it was so nice.
Sarah has been playing basketball, practicing with her new team. We also met with the Rabbi as she is starting her studies for her Bat Mitzvah which is in May.

I've also spent some time cleaning my mother-in-laws apt. replacing her wardrobe with new outfits for fall/winter. She looks so nice in her new outfits.
And of course the Jewish holidays & all of the activities surrounding that. I just love this time of year.

It's Friday night already.........

This week was a busy one. I cleaned a bit on Tuesday, had lunch with my cousin, took dd to Hebrew school & did our "taste of walnut creek, restaruant walk" (my gosh that was fun!).
Wednesday did some more cleaning, took all the kids donation stuff to good will & did a little sewing. My dad arrived in the evening & dh returned from his trip to San Diego.
Thursday dad & I spent some time together, mostly at home cause I've got a cold and feel a bit under the weather.
Today I went to work & dad went to work with dh. You could call it "take your father-in-law to work day". This evening dad & I watched the debate while dh was at his softball game. The kids have been busy too, they are around here somewhere. :0)

busy Monday!

I've exercised, dressed, changed all the beds. I photographed and emailed the dining room pics. to the consignment store. Have all the sheets washing & here are the pictures of the Americana quilt top & the Temple quilt fabrics, and yes I am short a fabric for a turning twenty so I will go stash hunting later. I'm off to switch loads and sew the backing for the Americana quilt. Dh is also coming home for lunch ..... soup is on the menu.

Have a great day!

Clean rooms at our house .... woohoo!

This weekend the kids cleaned out their rooms. (with a little help from me ;) .....) Drawers, closets, bookshelves, etc. We sorted and bagged for donations and the trash. They both did a great job. It was a lot of work! I must say their rooms look very nice now & a bit larger too .....
Sarah & I also took a trip to the fabric shop. I picked out fabrics for another "turning twenty" quilt that I'm donating to our Temple's auction in the spring. They are really cool & I'll post pictures of them soon. I'm too tired to get them out .... etc.
The next room on the cleaning list is the office/sewing room. We are going to sell our dining room set and turn that space into the office/computer room. Do you know what that means????? I get my own sewing/craft room! Hopefully we will move things around in the coming weeks, I just gotta get rid of the dining room stuff.
Stay tuned ....

Fall is in the air

I love this time of year. The air in the moring is nice and cool and the days are warm and sunny. It was a busy weekend with boy scout popcorn sales and sunday school. Dh and I went to dinner Saturday night, sushi ... yum. We also got to hang out for a few hours together Sunday afternoon while the kids were busy with a movie & popcorn selling.
Sarah stayed home from school yesterday with a very sore throat so that meant a whole day of sewing for me. WooHoo! I cut and pieced most of a quilt top that I'm making for my cousin. Now I just need to add the borders and search/shop for a backing.
Alice kitty is feeling much better this week while Steve's jaw is still very sore. He's loosing a few lbs. since he can only eat soft foods. Hopefully the pain will ease in the coming days.
I'm off to eat lunch ..... catch ya later!

It's been a busy week around here

Monday night my DH was hit by a line drive to the left side of this chin. His jaw has a hairline fracture. They aren't going to wire it but they will keep an eye on the healing and he's got pain meds to keep him comfy. He's also on a soft foods diet so mealtime at our house has been interesting. Lots of eggs, pancakes, shakes, smoothies & pasta.
It's been a little more than a week since my kitty Alice was really sick. She either had a small stroke or has a brain tumor. She is improving a lot this week though. She has spent a lot of time hiding/resting behind my quilt rack. Today she's been out of hiding and I've seen her eating and walking around the house. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she continues to improve.
I've even been quilting this week. I've finished a "turning twenty" quilt top and am just waiting for the backing I ordered to arrive. It's been so nice to get into the quilting groove again. I didn't realize how much I missed it.

Quilting in Las Vegas

Of course while in Las Vegas Jill & I had to do a little damage at the LQS "The Christmas Goose". I picked out some Black Jack & poker fabric and also a FQ bundle of the "in the pink 2" line. I'm thinking about the turning twenty pattern with the bundle. I also helped Jill pick out americana fabrics for quilt she's making next. We had a great time!

Happy 15th Birthday Ryan!

August 29th was Ryan's birthday. We arrived in Las Vegas that afternoon & after dinner the girls surprised Ryan with a yummy cake! We all sang "Happy Birthday" and everyone raved about how goooood the cake was. Thanks Aunt Jill, Zoey & Abby for making Ryan's birthday special!

Labor Day weekend in Las Vegas

What a great time we had last weekend in Las Vegas. We went to see my brother Kevin & Jill and of course the girls. We took the kids bowling on our last night there. Doesn't it look like fun! Zoey and Abby both did a great job!

June is almost over???

This month has just flown by. Here are 2 quilts of the 3 quilts that I finished last week. The Christmas quilt was a gift for my friend Cindy. I gave it to her yesterday & she just love it, woohoo!
The sweets quilt I'm keeping for me. But, I also made a 3rd quilt with the sweets fabric. That one I made for my friend Jeannette, she loves hers too. I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it to her though so I'll have to get that later.
Otherwise, we haven't been up to too much. The kids and I have seen a few movies, went to the Alameda County Fair and Marine World. Catch ya later!

I know it's been a while.... here's what's new

So this is what's new. It was a busy May ............. We had a turkey visit the back yard. I guess she was just out strolling the neighborhood.

Channel 2 news was doing a story on the crossing guards at our elem. school. Dh & dd along with Billy Bob, as well as our neighbors and their pooch, wanted to be on the evening news. ;) They are famous now .... ;)

Our water heater sprung a leak all over the garage. It's all fixed now, but since we had to take almost everything out of there & then put back in a hurry, we had a lot of stuff everywhere. Dh & I spent the 3 day weekend reorganizing the garage. Look what I found ..... and it still fits almost 18 years later! Dd is holding up the train .... what a helper ;)

Dd's softball team finished in 2nd place this year! WOOHOO! Congratulations girls it was an awesome season!

Here's a rag quilt that I just finished today. I really like how it turned out! I'm keeping this one for me ;) ..... I have enough leftover blocks to make a 5x5 block baby size quilt too.

That's it for now. Catch ya later!

Happy Monday!
This weekend was so relaxing. I love those kinds of weekends.
Friday night I called my cousin and he & his buddies had an extra ticke to see "Duran Duran" so of course said I'd love to go. We had an awesome time! I just love them & thanks Chris for the T-shirt!
DD won her softball game Saturday morning - Go A's! I spent some time sewing in the afternoon, I'm working on a rag quilt.
Yesterday was the same, spent time sewing and watching movies.
DD has a game tonight and today just the usual errands and sewing. Have a great day!

Oops! Here are those pictures....

It's has been a busy few days around here. My nieces are here for a visit. They brought their Mommy & Daddy with them. Here is a picute of them on Uncle Steve's motorcycle.

My brother (their Daddy) brought the quilt I made him 10 years ago for some much needed repair. Here is a picture of the girls helping me make those repairs & a picture of the finished patches. All done with love, of course. I fused on the patches and then did a zig sag stitch for a little extra "quilting". I had "tied" the quilt when I made it and it has been well worn/used. It really needed "quilting" so hopefully they can use if for another 10 years.

Meet Billy Bob, he looked so cute. I just had to share this picture of him!

It took 12 years of quilting but I finally got my custom built sewing table. I'm so excited! I just love it! I've also taken a picture of my restored fabric stash. I am so ready to quilt quilt quilt....

It's been busy around here lately. I'm getting lots of sewing done now that it's baseball season. Dh umpires almost evenings, which equals more sewing time for me.
This is one of the projects I've been working on. I finished the binding today, yippee! I think it turned out great! It's the "doggy quilt" that I'm donating to my son's school, Orion Academy. I hope it raises lots of $ towards their sports court. It will be raffled or auctioned at their spring fundraiser.
The other picture is our new kitty, Olivia. We adoped her through ARF. She's really sweet and adjusting to living with us. Billy Bob our corgi & Alice our cat are really getting along well with her too.

WOOHOO! Here is a picture of my kids Ryan & Sarah and my little nieces, Zoey & Abby. We had lunch at the Bellagio in Las Vegas & this picture was taken in the indoor garden on 3/23/08.

I did it! Here is a picture of the quilt I made for my brother Kevin, he and Jill just loved it and it looks great on their bed.
I know it's been ages since I've posted. Sorry about that ;) .
It was a busy March. My Dad and Aunt came for a visit, we had a great time.
We had send one of our cats Ariel to kitty heaven, she had kidney disease and it was her time.
We adopted a new kitty from ARF, her name is Olivia and she is adjusting well with everyone including the Billy Bob our dog and Alice our cat.
I took the kids to Las Vegas for a few days over spring break to see their cousins. We all had a great time.
My dd's baseball season is well underway and so is dh's umpiring. We spend a lot of time at the ball parks.
And of course I've been quilting! I have made and donated 2 quilts for auctions and also finished my brothers queen size quilt. I'm now working on a quilt for an old friend. As soon as I get another lesson in posting pictures I will post those quilts.
Anyhow, that's what's been happening in my world.
I promise to post more often and not leave ya hanging!
Off to watch American Idol. Catch ya later!

OMG .... I was tagged!

OK, I've been tagged. Since I don't really know many bloggers & the ones I do know were tagged already, I will just post the 7 random things about me.

1. My favorite song is "Melt with you" by Modern English. It's from the 80's and is now popular again so I hear it all the time, it's even in commercials on TV.

2. My grandfather was a furrier, as was his father. They had a shop in San Francisco on Geary. I used to help rip the seams of coats with my grandmother for alterations when I was a child.

3. I used to rollerskate competitively, figures & dance. I loved it so much I wish they'd bring it back, I'd love to teach it.

4. I don't truly have one favorite color .... I've never been able to decide which I like best. I don't have one favorite food either, too many to choose from.

5. One of these day's I'd like to go back to school to learn photography.

6. I fall asleep every time I try to watch a program at night on TV, I always have to record it to watch the end the next day.

7. I had my Bat Mitzvah at 41 yrs old, last June. I was an amazing experience.

It's been a week ... wow how time flies.

I can't believe it's been a week since I've posted. I guess I'm still getting used to this blogging thing.
Yesterday I washed up all the fabrics I purchased when my tsb was here. WOW, there was a lot of fabric, over 75 yards in all. It's now ready to be cut up and sewn back together into awesome quilts!
Today is just a relaxing Sunday. Laundry, grocery & a little sewing. My dd has her final basketball game and party later today. Take it easy! Catch ya later!

Monday!

Well, I'm pooped. I had a busy day. A few Monday errands to run with dd. She had today off from school. Then we spent a good part of the day with a friend of mine organizing her quilting stuff. That was a lot of fun. She had started quilting some years back but got frustrated with it. Our goal today was to sort out the projects and then pick one for her to work on. So tonight I'm sure she's sewing her "Jacob's ladder" blocks together. That project had been given to her as a UFO, her best friends mother had passed away a few years ago. And gave the boxes to her so she's going to finish piecing it so it can be quilted and given to her friend as a surprise. Isn't that cool?! I'll post pictures once she finishes the top.

My TSB goes home :(

Today my TSB flew home. I miss her already. We had an awesome time the last few days! Shopping, sewing and just hanging out. I can hardly wait till we get together again. Hopefully I can make a trip out there this spring to help/watch her quilt the quilt I made for my brother.

Later tonight my cousin is coming by to pick up the kids so hubby and I can have "date night". We're thinking about sushi and a movie......
